Oxfam 100km Trailwalker

Take on the ultimate team challenge: tackle 100km of Australian bush as a team of four within 48 hours and make a difference by raising funds to help overcome poverty around the world. The challenging Sydney trail features the well known 'Great North Walk' and the 'Harbour to Hawkesbury Walking Track', which lie in the rugged and beautiful bushland of northern Sydney. The event is held in August each year and sees 600 teams walk 100km within 48 hours from the Hawkesbury to the Harbour.

Oxfam Trailwalker raises more than $7 million each year in Australia, with each and every donation made used to work with families and communities around the world, to equipe them with the tools and resources to make a significant difference to their lives.

It is certainly a challenging event, but with the right planning, preparation and education, just about anyone can do it! BSM has been the medical provider for the event since 2010, which sees us provide a dual role for the event:

1. Educate Athletes Pre-Event: BSM host a number of 'pre-race' Seminars in the months leading up to the event, which see our staff (physios, podiatrists & dietitians) present on topics such as can Injury Prevention, Foot Care & Blister Management and Nutrition & Hydration. For all the dates of these Seminars, please see click here.

2. Acute Management During the Event: BSM's staff work throughout the event (day & night!) at a number of Checkpoints (Bobbin head, St.Ives Showground, Davidson Park Roseville, Tania Park Balgowlah) along the way. At each chekcpoint, our staff will assess any new injury, provide advice / treatment to keep you on the trail for as long as safely possible, making sure we do our best to get you to the finish line!
